The Truth About
Your Website Visitors
By Jean Lam
Do you want to know how you can make your website really
effective? I can answer your question right now. You must
express concern for your visitors. You need to understand
their needs and their wants. This way, you can respond to
their desires. The simple reason is that you are building
the website for them and not for you, right?
Just take a look at your website and examine how well does
it fit with the psychology of your visitors. Remember that
people act differently on the web that sometime it is difficult
to believe that these are the same people who behave so normally
in the real world.
Here are 4 important things to take note about them:
1. Want a LOT for free
People on the internet ARE on the internet because are looking
or hunting for information - more precisely FREE information.
They want to find it and they will.
That's the principal reason they are surfing the web. Once
they find it, if the content is really rich and useful - they
will come back again for more. And possibly they can also
refer their friends to visit the same places too.
However, they won't come back to a place that didn't interest
them when they came there for the first time. It's absolutely
crucial that you build your offer around the rich, free content.
Don't think about selling but about what you can offer. Then
afterwards, offer them something so incredibly valuable, that
your visitors will be willing to pay for it without asking
question.
2. Always in a hurry
The reason may be because they are so many places to visit
but whatever the reason - they are always rushing. They will
click away on anything if they get bored and they do get fed
up easily.
Ensure that your pages load fast for that's very vital, that
you indicate people quickly what and where they can find and
provide them with a way to go from one page to another one
fairly easy. This means good navigation is fundamental. It's
also critical for a website success.
3. Clicking Frenzy
When people surf the web, they need to click to go websites.
And there is not only one website our there. So they will
click on anything that seems to provide them what they are
searching for or will subscribe to anything that looks promising
- as long as it is offered free of cost or you don't ask for
too many information.
As a result of this, ensure that you satisfy their need to
click while exploring YOUR site. Use that clicking frenzy
to your advantage - ask them to subscribe, to click for more
information etc...
If you don't give them opportunity to interact, they will
click to surf away. Some people try to change the surfers'
habits instead of profiting from that. It can be a very costly
mistake.
4. No Easy Trust
On the internet, people are often misinformed or unwilling
to buy online. They are aware that anyone, even a kid, can
build an amazing website and they need to be convinced before
they are ready to leave a name or e-mail address.
And they need to be persuaded even more before they will
hand you their credit card number. Don't even think about
selling something in the first paragraph - resist selling
on the home page at all.
Establish rapport and trust and provide information rather.
Romance your visitor and use as many ways as possible to gain
their trust. That's a very fundamental aspect when doing online
business.
