Why
Are People Not Staying At My Site?
How
come people are not staying at my site?
In this newsletter we will give you five
tips on what you can do to get more customers
and keep more customers:
1.
When you type in a specific website address
and you know what products or services
they offer, do you like to wait for a
flash animation to finish before you can
enter the site? NO? Well neither does
anyone else. if you have a flash intro
page, think about removing it or at least
make sure that you can exit the animation
at any time.
In
addition, if you have problems getting
your site indexed on the search engines,
a flash intro page could be the reason.
Flash is not search friendly and may actually
prevent the engines from indexing the
rest of your site.
2.
You find a company website that is full
of flashing buttons, scrolling bars and
animated graphics. Does that give you
the impression of a solid, reputable company
that you would want to do business with?
If your site is like that and you are
not in the business of selling toys, you
may find your customers lacking.
3.
"Welcome to our Home Page. You are
visitor number 211." How does this
make you feel? Would you do business with
acompany where you are visitor number
211? You would not. If you keep a counter
on your page, either keep it to yourself,
or at least make sure that the numbers
you display show long term stability and
inspire confidence.
4.
People are coming to your site in droves
but then they are leaving again. Have
you made your site simple to navigate
or do you have links all over the place
with no organization? Think about it.
If it is too hard for people to find the
information they want quickly, they will
look elsewhere.
5.
What do you do when a web page seems to
take forever to load? You click the "STOP"
button and look elsewhere. Your customers
are the same. If you have too many graphics
on your page and it takes more than 30
seconds to load, you will loose customers.
Make sure your pages load fast.
